Trail description

Trail 6 of the Caryatides Trails network makes a loop through the forests of Mount Parnon east of Karyes, a village at about 950 m surrounded by chestnut and walnut trees. The route winds past old stone fountains, small gorges and hidden waterfalls under chestnut, oak, fir and black pine. Karyes gave its name to the Caryatids: local tradition places here an open-air sanctuary of Artemis where young women danced, the scene that inspired the statues of the Acropolis. The loop mixes forest paths and tracks.
