Trail description
A short 0.8 km walk with about 30 m of height difference on Andros Route 2a, from the Andros - Apoikia road in the village of Apoikia, by the Sariza spring, down a path through thick vegetation to the Pythara waterfalls. Here a series of cascades and pools form in a green gully, home to many birds and amphibians and to rare plants and wildflowers. The springs rise on Mount Petalo in the Evrousies area, and the stream reaches the sea at Gialia beach. From 1863 to 1936 its water powered the 'Fabrica' in nearby Stenia, described as the largest water mill in the Balkans.
