Trail description
Sifnos Trail 1, The Eternal Capitals, starts at the Neolithic acropolis of Agios Andreas and passes the gate of Agios Andreas church. It descends with views over the villages of Sifnos to the 16th century Monastery of Vrysi, the island's only monks' monastery. A trail along the slopes of the Erkies creek, past the ruins of an old watermill, then leads up to Kastro, the capital of Sifnos until 1836, whose buildings mostly date from Venetian times. From Kastro the route continues to the village of Artemonas; the official length is 8.6 km, about 3 hours.
