Trail description

A 4.2 km climb of about 420 m from Ancient Corinth up the road and path to the fortress of Acrocorinth, on the great rock above the ancient city. With its secure water supply, the fortress commanded the Isthmus of Corinth and was repeatedly the last line of defence of southern Greece. It was occupied from archaic times to the early 19th century and was heavily fortified in the Byzantine period.
