Trail description
A 1.5 km climb from the Schützenhaus car park above Gönningen to the Roßberg (870 m) on the north-west edge of the Swabian Alb, crossed by the Alb north-edge trail. The Swabian Alb Club's 28 m tower on top houses a hikers' hostel and an inn, and its view takes in the Alb and its foreland, the Black Forest, the Schönbuch and the Stuttgart TV tower, and in good conditions the northern Alps. An obelisk beside the hostel honours the geologist Friedrich August von Quenstedt.
