Großer Knollen from Sieber

Trail description

A 4.4 km climb from Sieber by the Knollenstraße to the Großer Knollen (687 m), where the reddish volcanic porphyry shows in the rock beside the path. On the top stand the 20 m Knollenturm of 1904 and the Knollenbaude inn. The tower looks over the Harz and south to the Rotenberg and the Eichsfeld, and in good visibility as far as the Großer Inselsberg in the Thuringian Forest. The European long-distance path E6 and the Harzer Baudensteig cross the summit, stamp point 150 of the Harzer Wandernadel.
