Feuersteinfelder Loop Mukran

Trail description

A 6.1 km loop on Rügen from the Feuersteinfelder car park near Neu Mukran through the Schmale Heide to the flint fields, banks of flint pebbles that weathered out of the chalk cliffs of Jasmund and were carried here by a series of storm floods 3,500 to 4,000 years ago. Because the infertile flint layers are thick, they still carry only sparse plants, and the pine forest planted in 1840 closely frames them.
