Darßer Ort Lighthouse from Prerow

Trail description

A 5.4 km walk in the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park from Prerow along the Leuchtturmweg to the lighthouse at the Darßer Ort, the young north-western tip of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula, which can only be reached on foot, by bike or by horse carriage. The 35.4 m red-brick tower of 1847 to 1848 is one of the oldest on the German Baltic coast; 134 steps lead to its viewing platform, from which the chalk cliffs of Møns Klint, 55 km away in Denmark, can be seen in clear weather. The Natureum, a branch of the German Oceanographic Museum in Stralsund, stands at its foot.
