Trail description

A 4 km hike in the Upper Danube Nature Park from Beuron to Burg Wildenstein, a spur castle on a sheer rock at 810 m above the Danube's breakthrough through the Swabian Alb and one of the best-preserved and best-known castles in Germany. Its main and outer castle stand on artificially steepened rocks reached only over bridges, and the outer works look almost as they did in 1554, when Gottfried Werner von Zimmern finished turning it into an early modern fortress.
