Burg Plesse from Bovenden

Trail description

A 3.1 km walk from the Plesse trail board and car park east of Bovenden, across the fields and up through Eddigehausen and the Königstreppe to Burg Plesse, a medieval castle ruin on a rock of pale Muschelkalk about 7 km north of Göttingen. The keep can be climbed by an inner stair as a lookout over Eddigehausen and the Leine valley, and the slimmer 22 m watchtower beside it is called the Sydekum, from Sieh dich um (look around you). The castle lies on the Solling-Harz-Querweg long-distance trail.
