Bodetal Thale to Treseburg

Trail description

A 9.1 km hike through the Bodetal from Thale to Treseburg, the gorge the Bode has cut into the hard Ramberg granite of the Harz, about 280 m deep at Thale and 140 m deep at Treseburg. In the narrowest stretches the path climbs in steep bends and runs as a footpath over the rocks, with fine views into the gorge, and it passes the Bodekessel, a pothole of the Bode at the Teufelsbrücke. Climbing, walking off the paths, mountain biking, canyoning and rafting are banned here to protect the wildlife and habitats of the gorge. The route follows the Harzer-Hexen-Stieg.
