Amrum Lighthouse from Wittdün

Trail description

A 3 km walk on Amrum from Wittdün through the dunes to the Amrum lighthouse, one of the landmarks of the island, on the 25 m Große Düne about 2 km west of the village. The 41.8 m tower, begun in 1872, shows its light 63 m above mean high water, one of the highest on the German North Sea coast. In the summer half-year it can be climbed on guided tours, 295 steps up to the viewing platform, and it is the tallest lighthouse open to visitors on the German North Sea coast.
