Trail description

From the Artigue car park the path climbs past the Refuge du Pinet to the summit of the Pic du Montcalm at 3,077 m. About 17 km out and back with some 1,890 m of climbing on a long day. Above 3,000 m snow can linger into summer and the weather turns fast, so start early and turn back if it closes in. Brown bears live in these mountains: make some noise as you walk and never approach a bear.
