Trail description

The walk starts at a small car park on the D559, the Corniche d'Or coast road, and climbs a path and a forest track to the Col du Cap Roux, then a path to the summit of the Pic du Cap Roux, keeping off the harder T4 paths. The peak belongs to the Estérel, a volcanic massif whose red colour comes from rhyolite, and its summit has a viewing table with a view along the coast from Cannes to Cap Camarat. At the northern foot of the Cap Roux, above the Sainte-Baume spring, is the cave where Saint Honorat lived as a hermit in the 5th century before founding the Abbey of Lérins. The walk is about 2.6 km one way, with some 395 m of climbing.
