Trail description
The walk starts at the car park by the Notre-Dame de Lure abbey church and climbs north on the GR 6 to the Station de Lure, then follows the crest to the Signal de Lure, the 1,826 m summit of the Montagne de Lure, which carries a transmission relay. The abbey was founded in the 12th century by monks of the Chalais order; the present building dates from the 17th century and has been a listed historic monument since 1980. The mountain's high moors and grasslands are home to Orsini's viper, the smallest viper in Europe and a protected species. The walk is about 5.1 km one way, with some 575 m of climbing.
