Trail description
The loop starts on the Piste du Grand Montmirail forest track south-east of Gigondas, follows it to the Col d'Alsau and returns along paths at the south and north feet of the Dentelles Sarrasines, the central of the massif's three limestone ridges, including a rougher T3 stretch; the harder T4 and T5 climbing passages are avoided. The ridges are Jurassic rock beds pushed upright by tectonic movements and then worn by erosion into the lace-like crests that give the Dentelles their name, and the massif is known worldwide for its climbing walls. From 15 June to 15 September access to the massif is regulated because of fire risk, and it can be closed on some days. The loop is about 3.5 km, with some 220 m of climbing.
