Trail description
From the Col de la Faucille, the route climbs past the Petit Montrond, follows a T2 track below the Montrond crest and then the GR 9 crest path to the summit of the Colomby de Gex. The summit is marked by a metal pylon about 10 m high, built in Paris and erected in 1907 on the initiative of the Mutuelle des enfants de l'Ain, and a few metres away a stele remembers the Swiss aviator Fernand Fluckiger, who crashed in the area on 2 June 1932. The final stretch along the crest, including the summit, lies in the Réserve naturelle nationale de la Haute Chaîne du Jura, created in 1993, where dogs are banned even on a lead. The walk is about 7.0 km one way, with some 465 m of climbing.
