Trail description
A 9.9 km ascent from the Nalga de Maco Ecotourism Center, near Río Limpio, via a trail through Nalga de Maco National Park to the summit of the hill, nearly 2,000 m high, in the Cordillera Central near the border with Haiti. Created in 1995, the park covers 278 km² and protects an extensive cloud forest of twisted trunks covered in moss and orchids, almost always shrouded in mist. The Artibonito, Joca, La Cidra, and El Valle rivers all originate in this area.
