Trail description

A paramo walk in the northwest corner of Chingaza National Park, from the Piedras Gordas ranger station to the Buitrago lagoons, a cluster of glacial pools framed by frailejon slopes. The area is prime habitat for white tailed deer and the occasional spectacled bear, and the lakes feed the reservoirs that supply Bogota's water. About 7.8 km out and back on gentle grades, a good introduction to high Andean moorland.
