Okolchitsa Peak

Trail description

Okolchitsa, about 20 km southeast of Vratsa in the Vratsa Mountains, is where Hristo Botev's band fought its last battle on 1 June 1876. A 35 m monument with a cross stands on the summit, and an inscribed rock in the Yolkovitsa hollow marks where Botev fell. National commemorations are held here every 2 June, and many marked trails cross the area.
