Trail description

Walk from the southern outskirts of Oruro through the new Paraíso neighbourhood streets to the northern shore of Lake Uru Uru, on the altiplano at about 3,690 m. The shallow lake, at most 1.5 m deep and around 214 km², formed in 1962 when sediment from the Desaguadero River dammed the plain. Together with Lake Poopó it has been a Ramsar wetland since 2002. The lake has suffered from drought and pollution from the city and mining. Bring sun protection and warm layers for the altitude.
