Trail description

Walk from the village of Pukhavichy along the track by the southern shore of Lake Chervonoye in the Zhytkavichy district of Belarusian Polesia. At 40.8 km², Chervonoye is the third-largest lake in Belarus, but it is very shallow, with an average depth of only 0.7 m, and it is ringed by marsh, so the track stays a short way back from the open water. Until 1932 it was known as Knyaz-ozero, the Prince's Lake. Beavers, otters and even lynx and wolves live in the surrounding wetlands, and pike, perch and bream are fished in the lake.
