Bodental Meerauge

Trail description

A short walk in the Bodental in the Karawanken south of Ferlach to the Meerauge, a dead-ice hollow left by an Ice Age glacier with a pond at its centre, at about 1,050 m. Algae give the water its turquoise colour, and the pond is reached on a well-secured path. The route follows the footpath and forest track from the Bodental to the Meerauge and back, about 2.3 km; the trail continues from there to the Märchenwiese meadow.
