The walk starts on farmland beside the Lake Highway near Golden Valley and climbs through tea tree, eucalypt forest and rainforest, crossing steep rock scree on cairned rock steps, to Quamby Bluff, an outlier of the Great Western Tiers and the northernmost peak in the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Discover Tasmania rates it Grade 3, about 500 m of climbing over 3 km, with panoramic views of northern Tasmania.
