Mount Stromlo Summit Walk

Trail description

A 1.3 km climb of about 120 m from the ANU Ionospheric Trail to the summit of Mount Stromlo west of Canberra. The Mount Stromlo Observatory was founded here in 1924 as the Commonwealth Solar Observatory and is now a research site of the Australian National University. The bushfire of 18 January 2003 destroyed five telescopes, workshops and the heritage administration building; the rebuilt Director's residence opened as a memorial in 2015.
