Hartz Peak Track

Trail description

This walk leaves the Hartz Mountains car park and crosses alpine heath on boardwalk, passing the Lake Esperance turn-off and Ladies Tarn before a short steep climb to the saddle above Hartz Lake, a glacial cirque lake. Cairns then lead over rock scree to the 1254 m dolerite summit, with views to Federation Peak and Precipitous Bluff. Parks and Wildlife Service rate it Grade 4; a parks pass is required.
