Trail description

From the Nitmiluk visitor centre near Katherine the Southern Walks climb onto the plateau and cross the dry country of Nitmiluk National Park, then drop through a gorge of pandanus and paperbarks, where butterflies gather, to the Katherine River at Butterfly Gorge, and back the same way. Walkers register at the visitor centre and need plenty of water; it is very hot outside the cooler months.
