Trail description

A short but very high climb in the Gegham Mountains from the small alpine Lake Badi, beneath the southern flank of Mount Azhdahak, to the 3,597 m summit of Armenia's highest volcano. The route crosses the boulder strewn slopes of the Kamurch saddle and the lava flow southwest of the peak, then climbs to the crater with its turquoise snowmelt lake. From the rim the panorama takes in Ararat, Aragats and Lake Sevan. The Geghams are remote and unmarked, with frequent storms around the summits.
