Dsegh to Tsater via Forty Children Monastery

Trail description

A 4.8 km hike from Dsegh, birthplace of the writer Hovhannes Tumanyan, down into the valley to the ruins of the 13th century Forty Children monastery (Karasun Mankants) and on to Tsater. Legend says 40 children sheltered there from invaders in the 17th century and were never seen again. It is part of a trail network linking Dsegh and Tsater with Tumanyan, Kobayr, Odzun and Kurtan. Allow about 2.5 hours.
