Trail description

Stage 1 of the Armenian National Trail, 8 km from Akhtala to Neghots in northern Lori. It starts at Akhtala monastery, a 10th to 13th century fortress complex whose Holy Mother of God church is known for frescoes blending Byzantine and Armenian styles. The village was once known for its copper mine. Allow about 3 hours.
