Trail description
A 6.3 km climb of about 560 m from Barrio San Cayetano on the edge of Tafí del Valle, past the Cumbre Cerro de la Cruz and up the hill path to the summit ridge of Cerro El Pelao, ending about 300 m from its top. The summit is at about 2,680 m, and from it the whole valley can be seen, including the dam. Along the way are white stone paths with natural quartz, old algarrobo trees, cardón cacti and apachetas, stone mounds left as offerings to the Pachamama. A local guide calls the hill an open-air museum for its pre-Hispanic archaeological remains.
