Trail description

The most celebrated day hike on the Valbona side climbs through the hamlet of Kukaj and old beech forest to Maja e Rosit, a 2,524 m summit on the Montenegrin border. The full return trip from the riverbed is about 16 km with roughly 1,600 m of ascent and takes around 8 hours, with steep rocky switchbacks near the top but no climbing. The summit looks over the Valbona valley, Jezerca and the Karanfili peaks. Go in summer; the last water is at Kukaj. Valbona is reached by road from Bajram Curri.
