Hoshteve to Sheper via Nivan

Trail description

This Zagoria valley stage links the villages of Hoshtevë, Nivan and Sheper beneath Mount Çajupi. In Nivan there are Cold War military remains and a square named after Bill Tilman, the British mountaineer who fought with the resistance here, and the path passes an old monastery on the way to Sheper. It is roughly 10 to 12.5 km depending on the detours, with a few hundred metres of ascent and close to 5 hours of walking. Late spring to autumn is the season, and the villages are reached by road from Gjirokastër.
