Mountain Description
Pik Furmanova (3,053 m) is an accessible peak in the Trans-Ili Alatau directly above Almaty, Kazakhstan, and one of the city's most popular day hikes and acclimatisation climbs. The trail starts near the Alma-Arasan gorge, gaining open alpine meadows with panoramic views over the city and the Tian Shan. It can be hiked snow-free from June to October; the rest of the year needs winter equipment.
