Pico Oriental (La Silla de Caracas) from Hotel Humboldt

Trail description

Pico Oriental, about 2,640 m, is the higher summit of La Silla de Caracas and the second highest peak of Parque Nacional Waraira Repano (El Ávila). From the Hotel Humboldt the route drops to Lagunazo, a camping spot with water, then climbs past Pico Occidental (about 2,480 m) and the Asiento de La Silla saddle. Higher up the path is rocky, exposed and poorly signed, with no water beyond Lagunazo, so carry 1 to 2 liters per person.
