Lagunas Las Verdes (Páramo El Batallón)

Trail description

Lagunas Las Verdes are two periglacial lakes, Las Verdes Bajas and Las Verdes Altas, below Pico El Púlpito in the Páramo El Batallón of Parque Nacional General Juan Pablo Peñaloza, Táchira. The path crosses open páramo of frailejones, and near the lakes a large boulder field where loose rock gets very slippery in rain. Expect strong cold wind, nights of 5 to 10°C, and fog in which the cairns marking the route are hard to find.
