Valizas a Cabo Polonio por las dunas

Trail description

An 8.7 km hike from Barra de Valizas, following paths through dunes and woodland to the Cabo Polonio lighthouse in Rocha. This is the most scenic route to reach the Cape on foot: 8 to 10 km amidst giant dunes up to 30 m high, requiring good physical fitness and careful timing due to the sun. The lighthouse, lit in 1881 and a historical monument since 1976, overlooks the Torres islands, which host a significant sea lion reserve within the Cabo Polonio National Park, established in 2009.
