Trail description

Jabal Ar Rahrah, 1,691 m, is the highest mountain lying entirely within the United Arab Emirates, in the Hajar Mountains of Ras Al Khaimah. Jebel Jais, 3.4 km to the northeast, is higher, but its summit lies across the border in Oman. This route climbs from the Wadi Ghalilah side on the trail to the old hamlet of Dafalas and then follows the Jabal ar Rahrah ridge trail to the top. The area was historically home to the Bani Shatair, a section of the semi-nomadic Shihuh tribe, and the climate is dry, with January the coolest month for walking.
