Mount Matebean Mane from Ossohuna

Trail description

A long climb from the village of Ossohuna above Baguia to the 2,372 m summit of Matebian, the sacred mountain of eastern Timor, which has a statue of Christ on top and views of both seas on clear days. The climb is steep and rocky and sources allow 3 to 5 hours up; a local guide is essential, as trail junctions above the high villages are confusing and it is impossible to navigate in cloud.
