Maïdo to Roche Plate

Trail description

An out-and-back of about 13 km and 1,290 m of climb from the Maïdo viewpoint, at 2,200 m on the rim of Mafate, down the steep path to the îlet of Roche Plate and back up. The descent of about 1,000 m is hard on the knees and the climb back is long, so start early before the clouds rise over the rim.
