"PR01 MMN Ecopista Do Montado - Vaivem" (route in Portugal) Description: "The route begins at the decommissioned railway station in the town of Montemor-o-Novo. Cross the metal bridge over the Almansor River and follow the bends in the path, where the landscape is characterized by rural estates, farmhouses, and tourism accommodations. Pass the ruins of the old level crossing at around 6 km, and pass by the former Paião halt. The scenery begins to change, giving way to open fields with rock-cut embankments and filled areas used to smooth out the terrain's elevation changes. Continue along the route, passing through a small grove before following parallel to the active railway line. At the yard adjacent to the Torre da Gadanha station, keep to the left to complete the journey, which follows the inactive railway track entirely. Note: Footwear and clothing: Use hiking boots or trainers that have been broken in to avoid blisters; wear a hat or cap and use sunscreen. Water and hydration: Carry at least 2.5 to 3 liters of water. Regular nutrition: Consume energy bars, dried fruit, or sandwiches during the hike. Planning: Start early in the morning to avoid the hottest hours and to manage your time with the sunlight."
