Waqrapukara from Huayqui

Trail description

A 7.8 km climb of about 860 m from the village of Huayqui above Acomayo across the high puna to Waqrapukara, an Inca and pre-Inca temple fortress built on a rock spur shaped like two horns above the Apurímac canyon. The site is remote and rarely visited. The walk stays between 3,400 and 4,100 m, so acclimatise in Cusco first.
