Cerro La Vieja Chiguiri

Trail description

A 4.5 km hike with about 195 m of ascent starting from the Chiguirí Arriba road in Penonomé, following the trail toward the Las Oropéndolas reserve and other local paths, leading up to the final climb to the summit of Cerro La Vieja. The hill barely reaches 500 m above sea level, but the final stretch is short and steady, with an incline of nearly 45° and slippery steps on unstable ground covered in roots. From the summit, you can see Cerro Congal (992 m), El Escaliche (866 m), and Cerro U (652 m).
