Chhukung to Island Peak Base Camp Trek

Trail description

A 6.3 km walk with about 380 m of climbing from Chhukung at 4,730 m up the Imja valley along the Lhotse glacier moraine to Island Peak Base Camp at about 5,090 m, below the walls of Lhotse and the Imja lake. The thin air above 5,000 m makes this slow going, so acclimatise first. Foreign trekkers need the Sagarmatha National Park and Khumbu municipality permits.
