Trail description

A steep acclimatisation climb in the Khumbu from the lodges of Chhukung at about 4,730 m up loose moraine and rock to Chhukung Ri at about 5,550 m, facing the Lhotse south face, Makalu and Island Peak. Altitude warning: at 5,550 m the risk of altitude sickness is serious, so climb it only after acclimatising, for example after nights in Dingboche and Chhukung, and turn back at the first signs of headache or breathlessness. The last section is a scramble on loose rock.
