Trail description

The five-day hike along the floor of the Fish River Canyon, the largest canyon in Africa, from Hobas down to the hot springs at Ai-Ais, about 72 km with the usual shortcuts and 90 km in all. The canyon is about 160 km long, up to 27 km wide and almost 550 m deep in places. Permits are issued by Namibia Wildlife Resorts only between 1 May and 15 September, for groups of 3 to 30 hikers over 12 with a medical certificate of fitness.
