Trail description
A pilgrimage climb up the covered stairway of Taung Kalat, the volcanic plug below Mount Popa crowned with a monastery and spirit shrines. Monkeys line the steps, and the top looks out over the dry plain south of Bagan to Mount Popa itself. Short but steep; shoes come off at the foot of the stairs.
