Pico del Fraile desde la Laguna del Sol

Trail description

A 1.4 km climb of about 410 m from the shore of the Laguna del Sol in the crater of the Nevado de Toluca to the Pico del Fraile (4,690 m), the highest point of the volcano. The walk starts at 4,200 m and the top needs some use of the hands on loose rock, so acclimatise first and turn back with altitude symptoms; the park charges an entry fee.
