Vainagiai Nature Trail

Trail description

This 4.6 km loop around Lake Vainagiai in Kurtuvėnai Regional Park crosses the Vainagiai landscape reserve and visits the Vainagiai hill fort, with an observation tower beside the trail overlooking a beaver colony and its dam. The 9 ha lake has no inflowing streams and is fed by rain and springs, and a wooden footbridge crosses the Juodupis brook that drains it. Along the way are mosses, heathland, key forest habitats and a raised bog with cranberries and round leaved sundew.
