Trail description

Section 23 of the Lebanon Mountain Trail runs from Aitanit above Lake Qaraoun to Kaoukaba Bou Arab in the southern Bekaa. The highlight is crossing the Qaraoun dam on the Litani, after which the trail crosses open country with big views of Mount Hermon to the east. The official stage is 15.3 km with about 720 m of ascent and 620 m of descent and is rated difficult. Two stretches of about 5 km follow dirt roads, and in spring the valley floor is full of wildflowers.
